Summer Programs

Summer programs at MMC offer new, current, and future students the chance to explore, venture out, catch up, or get ahead.

Students can take advantage of the summer session to earn credits toward their degree. In addition to courses offered on campus, faculty lead travel courses during the summer, guiding small groups of students through foreign countries while studying. Recent classes have traveled to England, Italy, and Greece.

Select departments offer intensive summer workshops, such as the MMC Dance KoreoLAB and the Emerging Writers Summer Institute, a 3-week creative writing program for area high school students.

Summer Prep for Incoming Students

MMC hosts two summer programs designed to prepare pre-freshmen students for collegiate study.

1. Higher Education Opportunity Program(HEOP)

A state-funded program that supports high-achieving, low-income students, HEOP includes a six-week academic and social orientation for incoming students in the summer before their freshmen year. To learn more about HEOP visit their website or contact

Blanca Vega, Director of HEOP

Rebecca Pinard, Counselor and Coordinator.

2. Jump Start

A three-week program offered in early August, Jump Start invites pre-frosh to campus  to get acclimated to college life before orientation. Students can earn up to 4 credits toward their core requirements while making new friends, meeting professors, enjoying campus activities, and exploring New York.
