Financial Aid FAQs

Financial Aid Options

When we create your financial aid package, we choose from a variety of options, including scholarships, grants, loans and work-study opportunities. A typical aid package combines several forms of aid to meet your financial need. To qualify for need-based financial aid from Marymount Manhattan, you must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. Visit www.fafsa.ed.gov for more information about the FAFSA.

Loans

A loan is money you borrow, usually through a lender or the federal government, which will need to be repaid. There are several different types of loans that are awarded based on your financial need -- some accrue interest while you are in school while others do not begin to accrue interest until you graduate -- they are awarded based on your financial need.

Scholarships

Scholarships are awarded for outstanding achievement. Marymount Manhattan offers a variety of scholarship opportunities. Many private companies and foundations also offer scholarships for which you may be eligible.

Grants and Federal Work Study

Grants are usually awarded on the basis of financial need and, like scholarships, do not need to be repaid. Federal Work study allows students to earn money while they attend college
