MMC and Me

Why did you choose to come to Marymount Manhattan?

I chose to come to MMC because Marymount is in New York and it is a small school with intimate classes. Additionally, and I didn't know this before I came, but the faculty is absolutely wonderful in my departments. For the most part, I could not have asked for a more well-rounded and enriching education (they're not paying me to say this).

What activities do you participate in at MMC?

I am the President of the Religious Studies Club, the Vice President of the International Studies Club, a member of Alpha Chi National Honor Society, and a member of the Social Sciences Pi Sigma Alpha Honor Society.  In previous years, I was a workshop leader for Advocates for College Education, a member of MMC Outreach, and a participant in the Alternative Spring Break to El Paso, TX where we contributed to the building of a house with Habitat for Humanity.

What has been your favorite class taken at the college? Why?

It's extremely difficult to choose just one class because I have had so many great classes. However, I took a class last year on Islam with Professor Barre that really enriched my experience at Marymount. It made me look at the world a lot differently than I had prior. It was an engaging and enriching, with a lot of challenging and fascinating content.

Do you have a favorite memory from your time here so far?

Again, this is a difficult question, but in terms of experiences outside of the classroom, I really enjoyed and was inspired by the Alternative Spring Break that I participated in during my sophomore year in El Paso, TX. We had a great group of people on that trip who worked really hard volunteering their time to build a house for a family in need. It was a fun spring break with a lot of meaningful experiences.
