In Memoriam
Theresa Lang
1918-2008
The year 1997 was memorable at Marymount Manhattan College: Theresa Lang graduated with a B.A. in English, and she joined our Board of Trustees. At that time, we knew Terry was an exceptional person, although we had no idea of the extent to which she would influence the College – nor did we have any idea of the love and joy she would leave behind as her final gift to us.
Terry engaged all she met with her keen intellect, sharp wit, captivating charm and noble spirit of generosity. She wanted to make the world a better place for us to live in, and she did. Through her lifelong commitment to volunteer service and philanthropic support, Terry made very generous contributions in the areas of health, medicine, science and education. At MMC, several prominent facilities and programs bear her name, including the Theresa Lang Theatre, the Theresa Lang Center for Producing, and the Theresa Lang Scholarship Fund which supports students who demonstrate academic merit and are involved with community service.
Theresa Lang’s many contributions will continue to improve our lives, and they will affect and influence many people. At Marymount Manhattan we feel especially blessed to have known her. We will always treasure our special relationship with Terry, and remember her with warmth and love.
