Below is a complete schedule of the week of events to launch The Year of the Environment:
All Week Event Time: 9:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Location: Security Desk, Nugent Lounge and Cafeteria Professor David Linton and Linda Sada Screening of “MMC Goes Green,” a film about the Year of the Environment.
Monday, April 14, 2008 Time: 11:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Location: Black and White Galleries Professor Millie Burns Selections of work to-date by students in Digital II class.
Time: 6:30 - 7:45 p.m. Location: First floor classroom and back waiting area of the 55th Street Residence Hall Professor Millie Burns Artists’ books workshop using recycled materials.
Tuesday, April 15, 2008 Time: 11:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. Location: Black and White Galleries Professor Kelsey Jordahl Physics class and compact fluorescent light bulbs.
Time: 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. Location: Black and White Galleries Professor Alessandra Leri Energy awareness and conservation strategies by the students of COR.B. 300 course- Environmental Science with an Ethical Perspective
Time: All Day Location: 71st Street Display Case Library Staff Showcase of library resources on environmental issues
Wednesday, April 16 Time: 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. Location: Black and White Galleries Abigail Talcott Report on MMC environmental efforts.
Friday, April 18 Time: 10:00 – 11:00 am Location: Black and White Galleries Professor Rebecca White Posters with Purpose, Digital Media 1 student Projects
Time: 3:30 pm – 4:45 pm Location: Regina Peruggi Room Nora Pittenger ’07, Allison Manning – GoGreen Coalition Norah Pittenger, the Minneapolis City Ambassador for the EcoTuesdays organization, will speak about her work with the environment.
Monday, April 21 Time: Screenings at 1:00, 4:00 and 7:00 Location: 8th Floor , Main Building, Marymount Manhattan College Allison Manning of the GoGreen Coalition Media Services Screening of “An Inconvenient Truth”
Time: All Day Location: Library “Save a Tree” monument of unused and discarded paper to highlight waste on natural resources, specifically trees!
Tuesday, April 22 – EARTH DAY! Time: All Day Location: Nugent Lounge Professor Ann Aguanno Evolution class will discuss human activities on the planet that lead to the endangerment or extinction of other species.
Time: 12:00 – 4:00 p.m. Location: Black and White Galleries Alison Manning- GoGreen Coalition, MMC Outreach, International Studies Club, Alpha Chi, and Omicron Delta Kappa, Zach Harrell- Science Society Organic local food, potting plants, hemp drinks and jewelry and science information stations. There will be a Trader Joe’s gift certificate raffle and MMC Eat Green mugs and bags available for purchase. Java City is offering a 10% discount for those who purchase coffee with Eat-Green mugs.
