The Dow Zanghi Student Health Center

The Dow Zanghi Student Health Center is located on the first floor of the 55th Street Residence Hall (231 East 55th Street). All students including commuters and those living at the other MMC residence halls, may use the Health Center free of charge with a current MMC identification card. Beth Israel Medical Center/Student Health Services Network in partnership with the College manage the operations of the Center. The Health Center is open Monday, Thursday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Tuesday and Wednesday from 11a.m. to 7 p.m. The Center is staffed by a physician assistant, as well as a medical assistant. Students may call the Health Center at 212-759-5870 to make an appointment, or walk in during hours of operation. After hours, for urgent medical issues, students have phone access to Beth Israel physicians 24 hours per day, seven days per week through their triage on-call number: 212-420-2882. Free services include diagnosis and treatment, follow-up and evaluation, blood-drawing, health education, writing prescriptions and referrals. Lab work, prescriptions and some immunizations, such as the MMR Vaccines, have fees associated. These fees may be charged back to the student's health insurance company.

Kelita Alston-Jones has been a Certified Physician Assistant for 8 years. She completed her undergraduate studies at New York University in 1997 with a B.A. in Psychology. She then furthered her studies at New York Institute of Technology completing the Physician Assistant program in 2004. Kelita worked in Family Practice for 5 years, and was able to treat and manage a variety of acute and chronic diseases in patients of all ages. She then had the opportunity to work alongside one of the leading Physicians in the field of Hematology/Oncology for three years. She is currently the Physician Assistant at the Dow Zanghi Student Health Center and will be pursuing her Master's Degree in Public Health in 2013.

Nicole Barry is currently the medical assistant at the Dow Zanghi Student Health center. She graduated with her certification in medical assisting in 2006 from Sanford Brown Institute and completed her externship at Beth Israel's Phillips Ambulatory Care Center. Ms. Barry has worked at Baruch College Student Health Center as well from 2007-2010 and is currently completing an A.S. in Liberal Arts & Science in preparation for becoming a Registered Nurse in the future.
