FINE AND PERFORMING ARTS INSIDE MMC AND IN NEW YORK
Kelly McCormack
Division of Fine and Performing Arts

I have been working with faculty members to find some representatives of all three departments in my division to help me find out what we all really need. I am still in the process of setting up representatives of art, theater and dance. I would love to hear input from all three areas as much as possible. There was a survey done by our last divisional representative last year and I have been taking a look at those results to see what students thought of our curriculums and what we need to work on. This has helped me see what students may want from the curriculum that I can undertake myself along with help from the faculty. It seems to me it would be great to have is more opportunities to see what is in New York City in our field. What I would like to do is get sets of group tickets that would be made available for the students in the different department offices. This way it is easier for the students to get the tickets, they are most likely at a discounted price and you have the option of finding a friend to go with you. This would not be an organized class trip at all but just an option for a Friday night. I think we all know how important it is to see what is out in our field currently. I am also in the process of working on a FAPA appreciation day. I have invited the clubs of the fine and performing arts to come help with advisement day for the lower classes I know advisement can be stressful so we will have peers who can help advise you, tell you who your advisor is or other information you may need. This is also a great way for everyone to see the hard work these clubs are doing and give them all an opportunity to do some advertising. This is still a work in progress for me but I think with some help from other students we can make some changes. I know we are all very busy but I want us to feel more connected as a division and as artists. If anyone would like to contact me with ideas they have for FAPA please do so I would love to hear from you.
