Here are
the events for the week of March 15th through March 21st
Honors Day – Wednesday, March 17th
Each spring, the Academic
Committee and the Alpha Chi Honor Society sponsor an Honors Day at MMC. This is
a day dedicated solely to the celebration of excellence in our institution,
building awareness among students of the importance of intellectual achievement
within the academic community. It showcases the breadth of student achievement
at MMC across our five divisions and eighteen majors. The day provides an
opportunity to showcase the talents of individual students and the excellent
work achieved inside and outside the classroom through the sharing of scholarly
and creative work.
The events of the
day center on the Honors Colloquium, where selected students present research
papers and scholarly works, creative projects (such as paintings, dramatic or
dance performances), and scientific projects or psychological experiments to
the College community. Eight students will win monetary prizes for their work,
ranging from the Dean’s Award ($500) to the WRIT I award ($100). Other
events include the ceremonies to induct deserving students into the
College’s honor societies and the presentation of the Teaching Excellence
Award.
Please see
attached schedule for a list of activities*. Honors Day represents the
best of Marymount. It showcases the results of excellent teaching and scholarship
as well as the astonishing breadth of student endeavor. It is an inspiring
event, and we hope to see you there!
