Minor: Communications and Media Arts

Communication is a versatile area of study that complements many majors.

The Communication and Media Arts minor provides students fundamental skills in this growing field. The curriculum builds a strong foundation on which students select from a wide range of elective options that allows students to design their course of study in relation to their career goals and their curricular needs. 

 

REQUIREMENTS FOR THE COMMUNICATION AND MEDIA ARTS MINOR:

Required Course:

COMM 107: Principles and Theories of Communication                                                                   3

 Choose One of the Following:

COMM 131: Survey of Film and Video                                                                                                    3
COMM 230: Cultural History of Media 3

Three additional COMM courses are also required, at least two of which must be at the 300-level.

Students may take up to 15 credits of Internships and Independent Studies combined. A maximum of 3 Internship credits can be applied towards the major. Independent Studies cannot be applied towards the major

Currently, he is a multimedia editor for the <em>New York Post</em>. In the past he’s worked as a photo editor for <em>The Daily Beast</em> in addition to freelance photo editing for Nickelodeon. She holds a Master’s degree in Business and Economic Reporting from New York University, and prior to that, she graduated as valedictorian from Marymount Manhattan College with a B.A. in Communications and minors in Journalism and Political Science. During college, she also spent a summer abroad at Oxford University, where she studied history and politics. MMC, with its insightful courses, cosmopolitan mix of faculty and students, and motivating environment all helped further her goals. She previously interned on the Corporate Finance Team and Emerging Markets International Team at Bloomberg News and also held internships at CNN International, CNBC Business News and WABC in New York, as well as KPRC in Houston.</p><p> She has also worked as a freelance reporter for OK!
