Department of
Natural Sciences

With New York City as a backdrop, our students prepare for careers in medicine, public health, neuroscience, environmental science, evolutionary biology, and everything in between.

With small classes, engaged professors, new lab spaces, on-campus research opportunities for all undergraduates, and some of the best internships New York has to offer, MMC’s Natural Sciences program provides undergraduates with incredible opportunities.Microbiology lab 2014

What can we do for you?

We offer both a B.S. and B.A  in Biology, as well as an exciting new major in Biomedical Sciences. The Department of Natural Sciences also houses the multi-disciplinary Environmental Studies major. We have minors in BiologyChemistryNeuroscience, and Environmental Studies

Our majors and minors become actively involved in original research projects, studying computational chemistry, urban ecology, environmental chemistry, and neurodegenerative disease in close collaboration with MMC faculty.  Our students have earned competitive undergraduate awards and been inducted into the prestigious Chi Omega Lambda Honor Society.

Our professors also place students in internships, fellowships, and independent study projects. Recent Biology majors have interned at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, the Museum of Natural History, and Rockefeller University.

No matter what you want to do with a Biology degree, we work with you to get you there. We provide guidance and structure to students interested in medical, dental, or veterinary school as well as graduate programs in the natural sciences and other health professions. Check out our alumni page to see where our graduates end up and to read testimonials about their MMC experience.
