Department of Natural Sciences

Programs

We offer three different major programs in Biology.  For students interested in medicine or graduate school in the life or physical sciences, we offer a B.S. in Biology. Our B.A. in Biology is appropriate for students seeking careers in physical or occupational therapy as well as other health science professions. Our B.S. in Biomedical Sciences includes courses in biology, chemistry, math, physics, sociology, and psychology, fulfilling the new pre-requisites for medical school admission that will be enacted in 2015

We also have an exciting new major in Environmental Studies. This interdisciplinary major incorporates courses in biology, chemistry, philosophy, economics, international studies, and political science to provide a well-rounded perspective on the interaction of humankind with the natural world.

For students from any major looking to expand their career options, we offer minors in Biology and Chemistry, and interdisciplinary minors in Neuroscience and Environmental Studies

Admission to the MMC Biology program is competitive.  Applicants are evaluated based on their academic qualifications, including SAT/ACT scores, standardized science exam scores, and high school GPA.  Admitted students with outstanding academic qualifications may be chosen as recipients of a merit-based Wehman Scholarship for Biology Majors.
