Student Opportunities

The community of students who choose to concentrate in History, Philosophy, and Religious Studies at MMC is small and self-selecting, but we have formed a lively community of student-scholars who share a commitment to living the examined life.


Our Annual Philosophy and Religious Studies Conference

Philosophy Club Executive Board members present during the 2018 Philosophy and Religious Studies Conference Each year, our department hosts a campus-wide undergraduate conference during the spring semester. Students from any program are welcome to submit their writing of any length and topic in the areas of Philosophy and Religious Studies. Now in its tenth year, PHIL/RS conference recently became open to students of other institutions, welcoming scholars from Columbia University, Cornell University, and New York University to our campus in April 2018.

The Philosophy Club

The Philosophy Club meets weekly in the Multi-Purpose Room of the Faculty Center to discuss different philosophers, texts, and social issues. You do not have to be a major to join, the Club is open to all open-minded students who want to dig a little deeper into the content of their minds!
