Marymount Manhattan

Department of Political Science

What is control, and who has it? How do cultural systems reveal power and its abuse? Why advocate for civil rights and the environment? You have questions. Now find the answers.

Political Science majors learn to think independently and consider multiple perspectives. It’s a popular major at MMC, where students are intelligent and engaged, self-aware and globally conscious.

In the Classroom and Beyond

We study political and social change in the U.S. and across the globe, using theoretical analysis and historical and cultural perspectives. Our core curriculum exposes students to political ideas and institutions around the world, with a focus on international relations, political theory, and comparative politics.

Classes are small and professors are dedicated to fostering thoughtful conversation. Faculty can also help you develop your ideas for independent research and find learning opportunities outside the classroom, at cultural centers around New York, in internships at global and political organizations, and through study abroad.

After MMC

Our students go on to work for political campaigns and pursue PhDs and JDs at top universities. They join the Peace Corps or start their own businesses, and some even land prestigious fellowships.

Studying political science prepares you to not only understand change, but to enact it. So how will you change the world?
