Major Gifts to MMC
(January 1, 2005 - June 30, 2005)
Trustee Judith Carson '03 and her husband, Russell, gave $515,225 through the Carson Family Charitable Trust to the Judith M. Carson Tuition Assistance Fund.
The Stavros S. Niarchos Foundation has awarded MMC a $288,157 grant in support of the 2005 Niarchos Student Exchange Program with the American College of Thessaloniki in Greece.
Trustee Theresa E. Lang has donated $50,000 in support of the Theresa Lang Scholarship Fund.
Margaret M. Sokol gave $50,000 to the faculty development fund.
The New York Community Trust has awarded MMC a $50,000 grant in support of the College Program at Bedford Hills Correctional Facility.
Warren and Ellen Davis P'06 have given $40,000 in support of the College's priority needs. In recognition of their generosity, the College has agreed to name a classroom after their daughter Ashley. Mr. and Mrs. Davis have requested that the classroom be called the Ashley W. Davis '06 Classroom. For photographs of the classroom dedication, click here.
Kathleen Edwards Austin '65 has donated $40,000 to the College. $30,000 of this gift will go toward priority needs for MMC, with the balance going to support the Sister Edmund Harvey Scholarship Fund.
The Rudin Foundation gave $30,000 to the Jack and Lewis Rudin Distinguished Visiting Scholars Program.
Trustee Marsha A. Hewitt, Esq. '67 donated $25,000 toward priority needs for the College.
Mr. and Mrs. Mortimer Levitt have donated $25,000 in support of The Writing Center.
An anonymous alumni donor has given $21,151.45 to the College. $10,000 of this gift will go toward scholarship funding, with the balance going to support the College's priority needs.
The Rose M. Badgeley Residuary Charitable Trust awarded a $20,000 grant to MMC for furthering student research in the Division of Sciences.
The Samuel Freeman Charitable Trust gave $15,000 in support of the Theresa Lang Theatre.
The Brand Foundation of New York has given $15,000 in support of The Writing Center.
The Goodman Memorial Foundation gave $15,000 to The Writing Center.
Kathleen O'Grady '77 has donated $10,330 in support of The First Generation Scholarship, which she established for students who demonstrate great financial need and who are the first in their family to attend college.
Mr. and Mrs. James Buckman donated $10,000 toward priority needs for the College.
Pat Simon , a member of the MMC theatre faculty, has donated $10,000 in support of the 30th Anniversary Benefit Celebration of the Theresa Lang Theatre.
Mrs. Gertrude Whitney Conner donated $10,000 in support of The Writing Center.
An anonymous donor has given $10,000 to support the 30th Anniversary Benefit Celebration of the Theresa Lang Theatre.
The Seth Sprague Charitable and Educational Foundation has given $10,000 to scholarship support at MMC.
The L.W. Frohlich Charitable Trust donated $10,000 to the Madeleine Burns Scholarship Fund.
The James S. and Merryl H. Tisch Foundation has given $10,000 to the President's Discretionary Fund.
