Prof. Ann Aguanno Delivers Keynote Address at Mount St. Mary Symposium

On Oct 24, 2016, MMC Professor of Biology Ann Aguanno, Ph.D., was the invited keynote speaker at the annual SURE (Summer Undergraduate Research Experiences) Symposium at Mount St. Mary College in Newburgh, NY.  This annual symposium highlights undergraduate student research in the Natural Sciences, History, Art, and Mathematics. Students present their research findings in a poster session followed by the keynote address.

Dr. Aguanno’s keynote address was entitled “The value of undergraduate research: Gaining those important lab and life skills while advancing science!” She discussed how student researchers in her lab at MMC are trained and mentored, giving details on her students’ specific research projects and the outcomes of her lab alumni. Dr. Aguanno was joined by current students Kevin Mora ’19, Lauren Herndon ’18, and Biology alumna Devin Columbus ’09. The students and alumna also discussed their research experiences at MMC and the positive influence of research on their current career or career goals.
