MSNBC Anchor Tamron Hall To Serve as Gala Mistress of Ceremonies

(New York, NY) - Marymount Manhattan College is proud to announce MSNBC Anchor Tamron Hall as the mistress of ceremonies for the 2010 President’s Medal Gala scheduled Thursday, April 29, 2010. Guests will enjoy an evening of dining, dancing and live entertainment at The Pierre, 2 East 61st Street in New York City.

This year’s honorees are women who proudly serve as trustees of Marymount Manhattan and have demonstrated their generous support and dedication to the College by leading various fundraising and philanthropic efforts to uphold the College’s mission.

The 2010    President’s Medal honorees are: 

Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary (RSHM), the religious order that founded Marymount Manhattan in 1936, as a women’s college. Three RSHM members serve on the College’s Board of Trustees. 

Anne C. Flannery ’73, co-chair of the Academic Affairs Committee and former chair of the College’s Board of Trustees. She is a partner at Morgan Lewis & Bockius, LLP, specializing in securities regulation, enforcement and litigation matters. 

Mary Twomey Greason ’86, chair of the Facilities Committee and the Student Affairs Committee and is a member of the Academic Affairs and Executive Committees. She was a trustee member of the College’s Facilities Master Plan Task Force. 

Hope Knight ’85, chair of the Compensation Committee. She is the COO of the not-for-profit Upper Manhattan Empowerment Zone whose mission is to revitalize Upper Manhattan’s economy. 

Ginger Lyons de Neufville ’70, chair of the Trustees Committee, serves on the Executive and Investment & Finance Committees, and is also a member of the Campaign Executive Committee. She is Executive Director of the Mount Auburn Cambridge Independent Practice Association (MACIPA). 

Lucille Zanghi, co-chair of the Academic Affairs Committee and a member of the Student Affairs, and the Fundraising and Resources Committees. She is also a member of the Campaign Executive Committee at Marymount Manhattan College. 

This year’s gala co-chairs are Campaign Chair and Trustee Judy ’03 andRuss Carson, and Trustee Natasha Pearl and Richard Stowe

 
Tamron Hall

Mistress of ceremonies Tamron Hall anchors MSNBC Liveweekday mornings. Hall can also be seen on NBC News as a fill-in correspondent and newsreader for “The Today Show” and “Weekend Today.” Prior to joining MSNBC in July 2007, Hall spent 10 years at WFLD in Chicago, where she held a number of positions including general assignment reporter, consumer reporter, and most recently, host of the three-hour “Fox News in the Morning” program. While at WFLD, Hall secured a one-on-one interview with Sen. Barack Obama shortly before he announced his run for the presidency. Hall was nominated for an Emmy for her consumer report segment, “The Bottom Line,” which she launched in 1999. Hall received a Bachelor of Arts in broadcast journalism from Temple University. She is a member of the National Association of Black Journalists. Hall is also very involved in charitable organizations that help women fight abuse and organizations that work to end illiteracy. Hall is a native of Luling, Texas. 

Gala proceeds support the increase of scholarship opportunities, an initiative of This is the Day, the Campaign for Marymount Manhattan. On March 31, 2010, the College secured a $1.5 million challenge grant from The Kresge Foundation, by securing $25 million in pledges and gifts. The grant was awarded to the College after it met its March 31st deadline. While the College celebrates the successful achievement of the Kresge Foundation challenge grant, the This is the Day, the Campaign for Marymount Manhattan continues.
