Rosemary Ampuero Appointed as MMC’s Assistant Dean/Director of Student Activities

(New York, NY) Marymount Manhattan is pleased to announce that Director of Student Activities Rosemary Ampuero will be taking on additional responsibilities as the Assistant Dean and Director of Student Activities on February 1, 2009.

As the Assistant Dean and Director of Student Activities, Ampuero will serve as the College’s diversity officer. The diversity officer will support and promote the needs of our increasingly diverse campus. In this role, Ampuero will enhance learning of all students and help advance the College’s efforts to cultivate a more inclusive environment for the student body.

“Students have expressed the need to have a person that would handle such sensitive issues at the College, so it’s a much-needed area,” Ampuero said.

Ampuero will also assist in handling judicial affairs and working with student representatives on MMC’s Judicial Review Board.

“I will be working on developing and enhancing some of our policies and developing procedures,” Ampuero said of her goals as the Assistant Dean and Director of Student Activities.

She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from St. Peter’s College. Ampuero, who also earned a master’s from New York University in student personnel administration in higher education, has been with the College for four years.

Marymount Manhattan College is an urban, independent, liberal arts college. The mission of the College is to educate a socially and economically diverse population by fostering intellectual achievement and personal growth and by providing opportunities for career development.
