Counseling and Wellness Center Receives Full Reaccreditation

MMC’s Counseling and Wellness Center (CWC) receives full reaccreditation as a College Counseling Center by the International Association of Counseling Services (IACS)

The Marymount Manhattan College Counseling and Wellness Center (CWC) received full reaccreditation as a College Counseling Center by the International Association of Counseling Services (IACS), said Carol L. Jackson, Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students, in an announcement congratulating Dr. Paul Grayson, director of the Center, and his team.

The reaccreditation followed an on-site visit by IACS in June 2013. In a letter to Dr. Grayson, IACS wrote:

It is clear that your Center offers an effective and comprehensive program of services that makes a vital contribution to the quality of student and campus life. In its review, the Board was appreciative of… your strong dedicated and respected staff, the productivity of the Center given its resources, your active outreach program, the high degree of quality on the trainees you place, the overall vitality of the Center … and the Center’s responsiveness to stakeholder’s needs…In sum, congratulations are in order to you and your staff for an agency that maintains high standards of service for students at Marymount Manhattan College.

Dean Jackson also acknowledged the contributions of CWC staff members Dr. Debbie Giordano, Suzanne Sorrentino, Dr. Alan Flaggman (PT Psychiatrist), Linda Eder (Administrative Assistant), and two psych externs Marie-Anne Issa and Stephanie Sorensen.

“This reaccreditation in full, as well as the CWC’s recent JedCampus Seal for excellent suicide prevention and mental health services, affirm their commitment to providing superior services to our community,” said Dean Jackson. “At a time when they are seeing 17% more students than last year, they deserve a great big thank you!”
