Hollʼs present body of work derives from a theme he began in 2001, “Indeterminate Landscapes.” These paintings offer a distinctive view of landscape that is both maximal and minimal, with associations to both figuration and abstraction. The psychological, post surrealist explorations of early Mark Rothko and Barnett Newman are referenced and extended to express a relevance to our current time.
