Catherine M. Patten, RSHM, Ph.D.

About

Sr. Catherine rejoined MMC’s Board in October 2014 after having served as a Trustee from 2001 to 2007. A member of the Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary (RSHM), she was appointed Provincial, Eastern American Province of the RSHM, effective August 1, 2015. Sr. Catherine received her B.A. from Marymount College in Tarrytown, New York, and graduate degrees from New York University (an M.A. in English and a Ph.D. in American Civilization). Sr. Catherine has been involved in educational and pastoral work throughout her career and recently returned to the United States after six years in congregational leadership as a General Councilor in Rome. Prior to this service, her accomplishments include: Coordinator of the Catholic Common Ground Initiative at the National Pastoral Life; the Director of Social Ministries at St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Old Bridge, New Jersey; and Headmistress of the Marymount School of New York. She also taught English and history at the Marymount Academy, served on the Board of Trustees of Marymount College in Tarrytown, and was an Adjunct Instructor in the English Department at MMC, as well as an Academic Counselor to MMC’s Community Leadership (HEOP) Program. In addition to serving as Secretary of the Board, Sr. Catherine is a member of the Governance Committee.
