Spotlight Story

Growing up in the tiny community of Kutztown, Pennsylvania, Rebecca Stump ’10 dreamed about living and working in Manhattan. Now, with several jobs and internships under her belt in NYC, her dreams have most certainly come true.

Stump first arrived in New York City as a Marymount Manhattan College freshman majoring in political science and theatre. “MMC provided the perfect blend of what I was looking for: endless opportunity in the big city, but small classes and the attention I needed academically,” she says.

A fortuitous internship at the highly regarded Dramatists Guild of America led to full-time employment, and since graduation Stump rose within the organization, later becoming the Director of Member Services. Now, Stump is the Sr. Membership Manager at PEN America, whose mission is to unite writers and their allies to celebrate creative expression and defend the liberties that make it possible.

Outside of work, Stump continues to be enchanted with New York City, whether attending the opera or staying home to host a dinner party with her fiancé, Justin Clifford Werner II.
