About

In September 2014, Communication Arts senior, Nathaniel Jones, starting working as the Community Relations and Business Administration intern at ClaimFame.com and TheCastingAcademy.com, two start-up websites run by the same team, both of which serve various aspects of the casting and acting industries. After having completed a digital ad sales internship on the planning and publishing side at NBCsports.com earlier in the year, Nathaniel was ready to try a different industry within the rapidly growing digital landscape. While interning for the two sites, Nathaniel handles everything from strategic partnerships via social media to customer relations and outreach to video content editing to direct-email marketing for the two quickly growing sites. Originally from North Carolina, Jones transferred to Marymount Manhattan College in the fall of 2012 after completing his Associates degree at a local community college. “When I think about where I was two years ago, making the jump to Marymount was definitely the right decision for me,” says Jones. “The wonderful thing about studying communication and media in NYC is that the whole spectrum of our major is here, from the small, start-ups to the major, 24-hour news networks, and everything in between.” After graduation in 2015, Jones sees himself continuing to work for a smaller business in the world of media, where he can have more direct involvement in the marketing, public relations, and customer-service aspects of its operation. “I love wearing more than one hat – it’s a new adventure every day, and why I chose to study communication. The internship program here has helped transform me and has helped me apply, firsthand, what I have learned in the classroom.”
