Residence Life Turns Discarded Items into Charitable Donations with Drop & Go Program
May 27, 2008
(New York, NY) The Drop & Go program at MMC recently donated a total of 475 bags of clothing and household items, 100 books, and approximately $1,000 in food to Goodwill, the Salvation Army and Programs for the Homeless and Hungry. The annual Drop & Go program allows students to donate used items at the end of the year to local charities instead of throwing them away. “The Drop & Go Program can both minimize a resident’s impact on the environment and provide to those in need,” said Misty Beasley, director of Residence Life. The program collects books, appliances, electronics, plastics, bedding, linens, rugs, clothing, shoes, kitchenware, toiletries, cleaning products and non-perishable unopened food.
