Marymount Manhattan, Community Celebrate 59th Commencement
On May 16, 2008, Marymount Manhattan College presented 413 undergraduate degrees to graduates at the 59th Commencement Ceremony in Avery Fisher Hall at Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts. Families, friends and other well-wishers gathered at the venue to celebrate and congratulate Marymount Manhattan's finest, for their academic achievement.
Platform guests included the Board of Trustees, MMC administrative leaders and faculty members. Honorary degrees were presented to Elaine Pagels, Harrington Spear Paine Foundation Professor of Religion at Princeton University; Theresa Lang '97, former MMC trustee and devoted benefactor; and Mary Ann Schwalbe, former MMC trustee and professional in secondary and higher education admissions. Dr. Marguerita J. Grecco, acting academic dean, served as the master of ceremonies. Brian Lee Letchworth '08 was valedictorian.

On May 23, Marymount Manhattan College graduates file into their seats as they prepare for commencement in Avery Fisher Hall at the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts.

Dr. Elaine Pagels is presented with a Doctor of Humane Letters, honorus causa by President Shaver.

Former Trustee and long-time supporter Theresa Lang '97 was presented with the Doctor of Fine Arts, honorus causa.

Mary Anne Schwalbe, former trustee, was presented with the Doctor of Laws, honorus causa and congratulated by Idrissa Kone, a 2008 recipient of the Mary Anne Schwalbe Scholarship.

There were 413 graduates who participated in Marymount Manhattan College's commencement exercises on May 16, 2008.
