New York City

New York City is our home. It’s also our sprawling classroom, our living laboratory, our supercharged playground.

At MMC, you’ll find a college experience that spans boroughs and bridges, cultures and communities, neighborhoods and networks. NYC isn’t merely a collection of buildings and blocks around us — we’ve intentionally integrated our city into MMC’s curriculum and student life.

No better place exists in the world to find your people, your career, and yourself. We’ve assembled a short guide to help you start imagining your NYC experience.

Where in NYC is MMC?

We are located on the Upper East Side, the backdrop of classic films like Breakfast at Tiffany’s and binge-worthy TV shows like Gossip Girl. In our iconic Manhattan neighborhood, you’ll be steps away from some of NYC’s most famous landmarks, including:

As a home base, MMC provides a small and intimate campus. Going from your First-Year Seminar to your lab to a study hour at the library requires no more than a few steps or a quick walk. Take a sneak peek!

Where Should I Live?

Get to class in minutes, find a study buddy down the hall, and never eat dinner alone (unless you want to!). We have two student residence halls that are either a short walk or a short ride away from campus.

How Do I Get Around?

New Yorkers know that the cheapest and fastest way to get anywhere is via subway. The Metropolitan Transportation Authority runs the subway and bus system that serves all of the city’s five boroughs. You’ll need either a MetroCard or the new OMNY app to ride the subway. You have several options, including an unlimited 30-day pass.

We are located at 221 East 71st Street, between Second and Third Avenues. Our closest subway stop is 72nd Street/Second Avenue on the Q train. Limited street parking and parking garages are available nearby for your out-of-town family and friends.

What Should I Do? (There’s So Much To Do!)

You’ll never be bored. The real question is how you’ll choose from nearly unlimited options. Thankfully, we have a few local publications to help you find the best concerts, exhibits, shows, festivals, readings, events, and more:

At MMC you’ll never be far away from the action. Plan to attend your friends’ poetry readings, gallery exhibitions, and dance peformances. And expect them to be in the audience to cheer you on when it’s your turn to take the stage.

Where Should I Eat?

Preferably in every neighborhood in all five boroughs. The New York City food experience may begin with the perfect slice of pizza or the quintessential bagel, but you’ll have access to a feast of flavors from all over the world. You can find food trucks with a cult following, world-famous fine dining establishments, and 24-hour greasy spoons all on the same block. The great thing about MMC, though, is that you don’t have to travel far to find a great bite. We have several dining options for you, right on campus.
