The
Center for Academic Advancement (formerly College Skills) provides
courses for students who need the opportunity to reinforce their skills
in reading comprehension, vocabulary and grammar proficiency, and basic
writing. The Center also
supports a laboratory that offers students intensive work in the
academic skills necessary to succeed in college.
Enrollment in these courses is determined by performance on a
placement test administered and evaluated by our center.
The
Center is an academic support service that offers tutorial assistance
for all Marymount Manhattan students.
We offer tutoring in all academic subjects, and pride ourselves
on providing one-on-one support for students in need.
The
Center is also the main source of placement testing in the College. We offer a variety of tests in English and Mathematics
in order to place students properly to ensure achievement.
The Center for Academic Advancement, located in Nugent 451 and 462, offers free tutoring in all subject areas to all Marymount students. If you are interested, please come to Nugent 451 and complete a tutor request form.
In addition to tutoring by appointment, the Center is offering walk-in tutoring; no appointment is necessary. The tutoring center operating hours are: Mondays, Thursdays, 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.and Fridays, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
It is our mission to provide these services in any reasonable manner in
order to secure student futures. Our
main objective is to assure each student who passes through our doors
that they can and will succeed in college.
Contact us via phone (212.774.4820) or email, College Skills, concerning our courses, tutoring services, or
to answer your questions concerning placement testing.
