A Message from President Kerry Walk

MMC’s Plan for Spring 2021

Dear MMC Students, Faculty, and Staff:

As we approach the halfway mark of the Fall 2020 semester and look forward to the Advisement Period (November 5-13) and Registration (November 10-20), I want to say how impressed I am by the resourceful and responsible ways in which the MMC community has risen to the challenges of this unprecedented semester. In an environment of extreme uncertainty, the College’s flexible Virtual Classes/Open Campus model is proving to be effective in providing the personalized learning experiences that define an MMC education while building the College’s resilience during the COVID-19 global pandemic. Thank you, one and all, for keeping each other safe and doing your part to flatten the curve.

Even as MMC excels, the public health crisis that has engulfed the nation and the world shows no signs of abating, and the CDC has indicated that when a vaccine becomes available, which may or may not happen before the end of 2020, the supply will be limited. It is in this context that I share the College’s current plan for Spring 2021:

MMC will continue the Virtual Classes/Open Campus model, but with expanded options for in-person instruction. This approach will enable the College to stay true to our guiding principles of Safety, Flexibility, and Community as the global community gradually develops immunity to COVID-19. The instructional delivery mode will be indicated on the 2021 Course Bulletin, which will be available November 2, 2020 on the MMC website.

A Special Note to Students — Please watch your inbox for emails from Academic Affairs and Student Success & Engagement about Spring 2021, especially as we get closer to the Academic Advisement period (November 5-13), and Registration (November 10-20).

More details regarding the Spring 2021 semester are available on MMC’s Plan for Spring 2021 webpage, which will be continually updated in the coming days and weeks. Our Idea Catcher is open for your questions, suggestions, and comments. You may also email restart@mmm.edu, and our team will respond within 48 hours.

In closing, I’d again like to express my gratitude to the entire MMC community. In a time of turbulence, the students, faculty, and staff of our one-of-a-kind college are even more creative and caring than ever. The pride I feel in all that you have accomplished is boundless, and I look to the future with a sense of hope because of you.

With appreciation,

Kerry Walk, Ph.D.
President
