Marketing Professor Awarded $25,000 Fellowship

Assistant Professor of Marketing Lennay Chapman was recently awarded the competitive Dissertation Year Fellowship for AY 2021-2022. The fellowship comes with $25,000 in funding. It was awarded on the basis of her work on how consumers respond to the “addictive” features of smartphone applications.

Professor Chapman also received two other awards: the 2021 Mills Tannenbaum Research Excellence Award, which came with a prize of $2,500 and recognition at the Baruch College Student Achievement Awards Ceremony; and a Doctoral Student Research Grant for $950 that will be used to fund studies for her second dissertation essay.

In addition, Professor Chapman attended the AMA-Sheth Foundation Doctoral Consortium in August 2021. “Each year, top business schools can nominate one Marketing Ph.D. student to attend the invitation-only consortium,” explains Chapman. “Being invited to the consortium is an honor, and attending it was one of the highlights of my doctoral studies.”

Congratulations Professor Chapman!
