MMC Science Students Present at Research Symposium; Iris Parke ’23 Brings Home First Place

Marymount Manhattan students made an impressive showing at the 15th Annual Undergraduate Research Symposium in Biological and Chemical Sciences. The symposium, which took place at William Paterson University on April 2, 2022, attracted more than 70 undergraduate presenters from 17 colleges and universities across the region.

Iris Parke ’23 took home first place for her project, “Enrichment of Aromatic Carbon in Peat over Millennial Timescales by ATR-FTIR Spectroscopy,” which she conducted with Professor of Chemistry Alessandra Leri. Iris is a junior with a double major in Biomedical Sciences and Dance.

Victoria Perez ’24 presented her work on “Heterogeneity of Caddisfly Community Composition within the Highly Urbanized Bronx River,” which she conducted under the supervision of Assistant Professor of Biology Matthew Lundquist.
