Math Professor Presents at the International Conference on Meson Nucleon Physics in Mainz, Germany

Lia Leon Margolin, Ph.D., associate professor and chair of the Department of Mathematics, presented the talk Antisymmetrization of The Wave Functions Consisting of Spin-Isospin and Hyperspherical Parts at the 16th International Conference on Meson-Nucleon Physics and the Structure of the Nucleon (MENU 2023). The conference was held on October 16-20, 2023, by the Institute for Nuclear Physics at the Johannes Gutenberg University of Mainz, Germany.

The annual event brings together eminent academic scientists, researchers, and research scholars to exchange and share their experiences and research results on all aspects of nuclear physics. Some 139 accomplished scholars and young scientists from all over the world attended MENU 2023.

The Gutenberg University enjoys global eminence as a research-driven university with core research areas in particle and hadron physics. Dr. Margolin reported her recent research findings at the special session on Nucleon Structure in DIS. This report was a continuation of her work on “Constructing Wave Functions for Few-Body Systems in a Hyperspherical Basis Using Parentage Scheme of Symmetrization, which was presented at MENU-2019, held at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and published at The AIP Conference Proceedings.

Dr. Margolin continues her research in theoretical nuclear physics and applied mathematics and has ongoing research collaborations with the Institute of Physics of The Academy of Sciences of Georgia and the Institute of Cybernetics of Georgian Technical University. Dr. Margolin invites MMC students to participate in her research.
