About

Joyce Hall holds a Bachelor of Music cum laude with double majors in Voice and Music Education, a Master of Music and a Performers Certificate in Voice from the Eastman School of Music.

During her professional career she sang Opera from The Magic Flute to La Boheme, Operettas from Die Fledermaus to Naughty Marietta and Musical Theatre from The Music Man to A Little Night Music. Perhaps her favorite leading man was Gordon MacRae, opposite whom she appeared in numerous festival performances singing the solos and duets of Carousel and Oklahoma!

As a teacher, her focus is adapting classical technique to contemporary musical theatre styles. Her generations of Broadway performers have included Glenn Close, Richard Chamberlain, Hayley Mills, Cathy Rigby, Anthony Quinn, Kate Burton, Julie Andrews, Bruce Sabath, Sutton Foster, Lea Michele, and Marymount Manhattan alumas Emmy Raver-Lampman ’12 and Melissa Benoist ’11, among others.
