About

Lauren Hooper is a professional singer, actor, writer and vocal technique teacher. A lover of thought provoking storytelling, Lauren is equally adept on stage as she is on screen. Select NY and regional theatre credits include: Michael John LaChiusa’s The Wild Party, Dreamgirls, Ragtime, and Intimate Apparel (for which she was nominated for outstanding lead actress in a play). TV appearances include: Homeland (recurring), Shades of Blue and Law & Order: SVU. Select Film credits include: King of Paper Chasin’ and For Colored Boys: Redemption.

Hooper earned a BFA in Musical Theatre at the University of Michigan, studying voice and being mentored by opera singer Shirley Verrett. She continued her vocal studies with Broadway voice teachers Victoria Clark, Andrew Byrne, Tom Burke and Aaron Hagan. Lauren completed vocal pedagogy training with Broadway voice coach/researcher, Amanda Flynn. A lifelong learner, Lauren loves being able to sing different styles of music and bridge the connections between styles for her students.
