Vanessa is an award-winning New York City-based costume designer and stylist who truly enjoys the art of collaborative storytelling. Her designs for dance, theatre and large-scale productions have been seen across the country. Some recent designs include: The world premiere of Squirrel Screams and Other Dating Sounds (Madison Theatre), Godspell (Pittsburgh CLO), Wonderland (Tuacahn Center for the Arts), True Crime Obsessed Broadway (Hayes), Emojiland (The Duke on 42nd Street) which earned a 2020 Drama Desk Nomination for Outstanding Costume Design and Outer Critics Circle Award. Other favorite designs include: Disney on Ice: Let’s Celebrate (National Tour), Disenchanted! (Westside Theatre), and numerous productions with Broadway Cares Equity Fights AIDS. Vanessa has taught as a guest artist and adjunct professor at: University of Wisconsin Stevens Point, Pace, Five Towns College and FIT and was a full-time Assistant Professor at Borough of Manhattan Community College CUNY. She is a member of United Scenic Artists 829 and holds an MFA in Costume Design from Virginia Commonwealth University and a BFA in Fashion Design from Savannah College of Art and Design.
Vanessa is delighted to be a part of Marymount Manhattan College’s theater program starting in the fall. As a dedicated mentor and teacher she enjoys collaborating with students and faculty alike and is looking forward to what will be a dynamic academic year.
