About Carmela:
Carmela Arcidi is a Senior at Marymount Manhattan College obtaining a BFA in Dance (Choreography) and a Minor in Business Management and is originally from Hampton, New Hampshire. Throughout her time at Marymount, Arcidi has performed in works by Rodney Hamilton, Karen Gayle, Sidra Bell, and Jan Dijkwel as well as various student works. Arcidi has also received additional training from summer intensives with Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, Parsons Dance, MOVE|NYC, Peridance, Boston Dance Theater, Complexions Contemporary Ballet, and The Ailey School. This is Carmela’s second piece for Dancers at Work, and she has also choreographed for Works In Progress while at Marymount. Additionally, she has choreographed and taught at her home studio and enjoys sharing her knowledge and passion for dance with the next generation of artists. Within her choreographic process, Carmela seeks to explore ideas of connection as they relate to one’s recollection of memories and feelings of nostalgia. Through the exploration of the human experience and inspiration from a variety of artistic and visual mediums, Arcidi strives to make work that is engaging, imaginative and transports viewers to new, immersive environments.
