Photographs intrigue you. You know the immediacy and the power of images and they have always been your form of self-expression. Photos help you engage with and understand the world around you.
Why Study Photography at MMC?
MMC has a unique educational partnership with The International Center of Photography where you will enhance your skills and take classes in lighting, portraiture, city, and landscape, and state-of-the-art digital media, fashion, portraiture, and documentary photography. When you study in the heart of New York City, you can capture candid photographs of the inhabitants of the busy streets of the city, make your mark in fashion photography, or find your own quiet spot in Central Park, where photographing nature gives you a sense of tranquility and peace.
What You Will Learn
The photography curriculum builds on a foundation of analog, digital, and time-based media to build technical skills. You will have a thorough knowledge of photography history, theory, and cutting-edge photography practices to develop your personal voice with the end goal of developing your career path.
You can combine other interests with photography. Students have integrated their love of natural and social sciences, dance, theatre, English, sociology, and other fields to create photography projects from their individual points of view.
I feel pretty lucky that I am still doing today what I pursued when I was 18! In college, I had numerous internships assisting artists, working at printing studios, and even photographing for an online clothing company. After college, I worked at a portrait studio in Manhattan’s Upper East Side before relocating to the West Coast.Lindsay Kreighbaum ’12
