Translating Trauma into Art and Literature

The Institute for Pre-College and Advanced Study, in collaboration with Professor Cheryl Paradis, Department of Psychology, and Professor Hallie Cohen, Department of Art & Art History, presents:

Translating Trauma into Art and Literature:

An Evening Conference and Art Exhibition

Tuesday, April 10th

6:ooPM to 9:00PM

The Regina Peruggi Room

How do human beings deal with disaster? Horrifying reports of genocide and civil war compete with front-page stories of sexual abuse and poverty. Racism leaves its own legacy of intergenerational scars.  This conference on art and trauma will explore the ways the visual arts and writing serve as coping mechanisms which allow victims to turn suffering into insight.
