College Experience Program

The Marymount Manhattan College Experience Program allows qualified high school students to enroll in MMC courses for college credit during their junior or senior year of high school. Students will pay only the per credit tuition cost as other standard fees are waived. Students who are admitted into the program will have the opportunity to sample different academic majors prior to enrolling in college, gain deeper knowledge of one or more particular subjects, get a head start on their college education, or just preview the college academic environment. 

 
Program Overview

Each semester, high school students will be able to take entry-level college courses in subject areas such as Art, Business, Math, Science, English, History, Philosophy and Religious Studies, Psychology. Completed coursework will earn you college credit that can be applied toward your MMC degree or transferred to another college you plan to attend after graduation from high school.

While enrolled in the College Experience Program students have access to the College’s student facilities, including the library, during all regular hours of operation. Students have access to any of the lectures and other free events open to the student body. And they are eligible for free or discounted tickets to all of the College’s theatre and dance productions.

 
Entry Semesters and Courses

In the Fall and Spring semester, courses will meet during after-school hours or on weekends. During the Summer semesters, classes meet during the daytime. Refer to our academic calendar for exact start and end dates for each semester.

Students may register for only 1 course each semester.

 
Spring 2018 Saturday Program for High School Students

In addition to courses being offered on weekday evenings in the Spring 2018 semester, MMC will offer two dedicated courses for high school students only, on Saturday mornings.  Students who successfully complete the course will  earn 3 college credits, that can be applied toward your MMC degree or transferred to another college you plan to attend after graduation from high school.

 

Math 141 Precalculus (3 credits)

  • Saturdays: 9:00am-12:45pm
  • Starts: 2/3/18   Ends: 4/14/18 (10 class meetings)

This course offers specific preparation for Calculus I. It includes a quick review of algebra and then proceeds with the study of functions  (linear, quadratic, polynomial, rational, exponential, logarithmic, and trigonometric) and their graphs. with an emphasis on modeling and solving problems. It also includes work on the algebra of Calculus. Note: There is no class on Saturday 3/31/18 during MMC Spring Break.

 

PHIL 101 Introduction to Philosophy

  • Saturdays: 9:00-12:45pm
  • Starts: 2/3/18   Ends: 4/14/18 (10 class meetings)

This course introduces the student to some of the basic themes in Western philosophy insofar as it is a study of the structure of reality and a study of the ways of knowing. Special attention will be paid to methods philosophers use to achieve their insights. Note: There is no class on Saturday 3/31/18 during MMC Spring Break.

   
Program Cost

For the 2017-2018 academic year which includes the January 2018, Spring 2018 and Summer 2018 terms, the tuition for a three-credit course is $3,054.
