Meet Your Peer Leaders

New York City Seminars are characterized by the participation of a Peer Leader—an upper-level student who works in tandem with the course professor and helps students learn the ropes and navigate MMC and life in the city. Peer Leaders go through an intensive training in order to become trusted advisors who serve as resources for students both inside and outside the classroom

Meet the 2018–19 Peer Leaders:

  • Alexander Adams
    Major/Minor: Design and Technical Production with a concentration in Scenic Design and a minor in Studio Art

    Alexander Adams is a sophomore at MMC. He has been involved backstage in local theater since high school. Outside of school, he is… Probably still in a theater, honestly. Alex is looking forward to meeting and working with you all!

  • Brenelle Braganza
    Major/Minor: Entrepreneurship, Marketing, and Finance

    Hi Griffins,
    I’m Brenelle! I will be going into my senior year at MMC! I am very involved on campus from Student Goverment President to a member of the Unbranded fashion club. I am an international student and sometimes feel like I have more majors than I can count! Ask me about them!  A little about me, I’m from Dubai but I’m also a mix of Emirati, Indian and Portuguese. Being from a diverse cultural background I’ve always had a keen interest in learning about other cultures, I can also speak about five languages. I love cooking and making food for people. I’m a business enthusiast and I love numbers. I enjoy going out, dancing and having people over. My favorite spot in NYC is the Hudson River Park.

  • Brooke Burns
    Major/Minor: Musical Theatre with a minor in Drama Therapy

    Hello! My name is Brooke Burns and I am a rising junior here at MMC. I am thrilled to start my first year as a Peer Leader! I’m from Cherry Hill, New Jersey. Outside of theatre, my interests include Disney princesses, food, and my two dogs Snickerdoodle and Pixie (although I am open to love all the dogs I see on the streets of NYC.)     Elijah Castro is going into his sophomore year here at MMC. He is excited to start the year off as a Peer Leader and Infamous Unit member.

    Hi my name is Stefanie Drinkwater. I transferred into Marymount I’m going into my senior year! I’m from Long Island, NY. I love art, music and concerts, dogs, and of course, theatre and fashion!

  • Marchael Giles
    Major/Minor: BA Theatre Performance major

    Marchael Giles (He/Him/His) is a Junior here at Marymount Manhattan College. He is originally from Bay Shore, New York (Strong Island!) He is currently preparing for his role in this Falls Theatre Production Workshop “Blues for Mr. Charlie” by James Baldwin directed by David Mold. When not being a Peer Leader or Acting or napping, you can find Marchael probably hunched over a pile of homework in the SOS!

  • Marilyn Gonzalez
    Major/Minor: BFA Acting with a minor in Drama Therapy

    Marilyn Gonzalez was born in Bronx, New York to Guatemalan and Puerto Rican parents. Marilyn is a rising sophomore, and graduate of the Emerging Leaders program. She has a love for sailing, acting, and basketball. One day she hopes to create her own theater company for people of color where they can express there art.

  • Monae Greene
    Major/Minor: Public Relations and Strategic Communications with a minor in Dance

    Monae Greene is a third-year International student at Marymount Manhattan College. Although she decided to travel many miles to further her studies in New York City, the beautiful Caribbean island, St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands will always be home to her. While keeping up with her studies, Monae finds time to do the things she loves to do. She is Vice President of the dance club, Infamous Unit and instructor of a new exercise club, “SocAttack; an Intense Caribbean Wuk-out.” When she is not exploring campus and socializing with faculty and students, you can find her in the Information Technology Department working the school’s switchboard.

  • Ethan Greiner
    Major/Minor: BFA in Acting with a minor in History

    Ethan Greiner is a rising Junior at MMC. Not originally from New York, Ethan grew up in Reeds Spring, Missouri. He is also an officer of America’s Least Wanted, MMC’s Premiere Improv Troupe. During school hours you will most likely find Ethan studying in the upper level library. He cannot wait to meet you all and introduce you to MMC!

  • Conner Hefner
    Major/Minor: Theatre performance with a minor in Musical Theatre

    My name is Conner Hefner and I am from Macon, GA. I am a rising junior at Marymount. I enjoy watching movies, petting animals whose owners will let me, and exploring the city with my friends on my days off!

  • Ariel Hilario
    Major/Minor: Double major in Finance and Digital Media & Video Production

    Ariel Hilario is a junior at Marymount Manhattan College. He is proud to be peer leader and an executive member of C.A.B., Cinemaniacs, and the MMC Sports and Athletics Club. In his free time, he enjoys songwriting and storytelling.

  • Kyle Holter
    Major/Minor: Double major in Biology and Behavioral Neuroscience; minors in Mathematics and Chemistry

    Kyle is originally from Colorado, loves to ski, hike, and run. He currently works in Dr. Ann Aguanno’s research lab here at campus. Kyle also loves theatre and is part of the reason her chose to attend Marymount Manhattan College.

  • Nathallie Hughes
    Major/Minor: Environmental Science and English (Creative Writing)

    Nathallie Hughes is a sophomore from Southern California, and you might have seen her MMC Vlogs on Youtube! In her free time she enjoys writing, watching The Office, and watching Youtube Videos.  

  • Lillian Jones
    Major/Minor: Double Major in Studio Art and Art History

    My name is Lillian Jones. I am from Montclair, NJ. I will be a senior in the fall. I love art so much, and I am so excited to experience the wonderful art we have in this city with the new and returning students at Marymount!

  • Emily Karandy
    Major/Minor: English and World Literature major with minors in Political Science and Creative Writing

    My name is Emily and I’m going to be a senior at Marymount this year! I’m looking forwards to meeting students, helping them get involved on campus as well as show them around my favorite spots in the city. You can normally find me somewhere reading a book.

  • JK Larkin
    Major/Minor: BFA Acting Major with three minors in Dance, Drama Therapy, and Art Therapy.

    JK Larkin is a rising junior here at MMC who comes from Long Island, New York. He currently serves on the Theater Arts Student Council and as one of the Drama Therapy representatives for the school. In his free time, outside of school, JK cantors at St. Anastasia’s Parish in Douglaston, Queens, coaches high school level Speech and Debate, and sees as many shows on Broadway as his wallet will allow. JK is beyond excited to meet all of you and hopes that he can introduce you to the city that he has been proud to call home for his entire life

  • Allison Lehman
    Major/Minor: BA in Theatre Arts with a concentration in Directing, and dual minors in Arts Administration and Communication

    Allison is a rising senior at MMC. She has been an active student leader since her freshman year, having previously worked with The Monitor, Residance Hall Council, and the Marymount Players. She’s now going into her third year as a Peer Leader on campus, and her third term on the executive board of the Student Government Association. This past school year Allison also worked Off-Broadway with the historic Women’s Project Theater as an administrative intern. Allison is originally from the Maryland suburbs of D.C. where in the summers she works at an educational theater company teaching and directing high school students in classical theater.

    Major/Minor: BFA Acting with a minor in Drama Therapy

    My name is Allison Miller and I’m so excited to be returning as a PL this year. I am very passionate about theatre education and therapeutic theatre and spent my summer working with children back home in Memphis, TN. I love MMC and the city with my whole heart and can’t wait to meet you!


  • Christine Mitchell
    Major/Minor: Business major with a concentration in Economics and a minor in Studio Art

    Christine Mitchell was born in Brooklyn, New York to Jamaican and Guyanese parents. Christine is a rising Junior  in Marymount Manhattan College. Her passion is performing weather it is singing, stepping or dancing. She is the President of the Sole Steppers and a peer mentor for Higher Education Opportunity Program (H.E.O.P). She is not sure what her future would bring but she hopes to find out in her remainder of college. She enjoys traveling and hope to one day travel more outside of the United States. This is her first year as a peer leader. 

  • Juan Osorio
    Major/Minor: Politics & Human Rights and International Studies major, with a minor in Law & Ethics.

    I am a junior, and it’s my second year as a peer leader. I’ve been involved in lots of organizations in campus, like the Social Studies, Assembly, Student Government, Philosophy Club and The Monitor. I have also intern in many exciting places, from law firms to local campaign offices.

  • Eirvkha Prophete
    Major/Minor: Double major in Digital Journalism and Cinematography, Television, and Emerging Media (CTEM) with a minor in Dance

    Eirvkha Prophete (pronouns she/her/hers) is rising sophomore from Orange, NJ. At Marymount she works in the Information Technology (IT) office, takes part in SocAttack: Caribbean Wukout sessions, and a new member to the peer leader team. In her spare time she likes to write, listen to music, go around NYC with her friends taking pictures, and sometimes she goes back home to New Jersey to reunite with her family and friends.

  • Romello
    Major/Minor: Theatre Performance with a Minor in Musical Theatre

    Hi everyone! I’m Romello. I’m a rising senior at Marymount! This is my third year being a Griffin Guide and I can’t wait to welcome the incoming class to the MMC Community. In my Senior year, I will be Special Events Chair of Campus Activities Board, a third year Peer Leader and Peer Leader Crew Chief, one of the Musical Theatre Representatives on the Theatre Arts Student Council, a member of Omicron Delta Kappa Honor Society, a member of the Student Activities Advisory Board, and a cast member of Blues for Mr. Charlie, a play being done at MMC in the Fall! My favorite thing about Marymount is getting to meet and develop connections with a variety of people and I cannot wait to help bring in the class of 2022! If you have any questions whatsoever, I’m the one in the heels!

  • Micah Sanford
    Major/Minor: B.S. in Marketing and Entrepreneurship with a minor in Chinese Studies

    Mich Sanford ’20, born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio, is an rising Junior. He was an 2014 Ohio State Champion Division IV Football player back in high school . Currently, he is striving to leave an impact on his new home, Marymount Manhattan College. At MMC, Micah is the Senator of Diversity and Inclusivity and President of the newly founded, MMC sports and Athletic club. He also works as a stock manager for Nili Lotan. After graduation he plans to spend his summer exploring all seven continents before pursuing his future plans a entrepreneur.

  • Sabrina Sooknanan
    Major/Minor: Double major in Philosophy and Social Entrepreneurship with a minor in Journalism.

    Sabrina Sooknanan is a born and bred New Yorker and is a senior at MMC Sabrina has been involved in almost everything on campus, from running multiple publication clubs to participating in Student Government to raising awareness on commuter student issues. She spends her time working as a paralegal in Times Square and running her own media company called Blended Magazine.

  • Rachel Swedberg
    Major/Minor: BA in Theatre performance with a minor in musical theatre

    Hi griffins! I’m Rachel and I’m a rising sophomore. MMC has become such a home for me in just one short year and I’m so excited to help you make it your home too! I’m from Central Jersey, but moved around a lot growing up. I love just about anything and everything involving theatre and music so if you need help entering Broadway lotteries, I am your girl. Outside of theatre I love traveling, exploring new neighborhoods, and attending street fairs. I can’t wait for you to join the MMC family! 

  • Victoria Whalen
    Major/Minor: Double major in Biology and Environmental Studies with a soon to be minor in Asian Studies

    Victoria is a sophomore at MMC. Originally from Georgia, she loves anything artsy and has a passion for performing! Even though she is heavily involved in the science department Victoria can’t wait to meet the incoming and returning students from every major.
