Department of Art and Art History
At MMC, our classrooms extend far beyond campus. We are within walking distance of the Met, MoMA, Guggenheim, Frick, and Cooper-Hewitt, among others. Our students live and learn in one of the world’s most important centers of art and design.
Why study Art at MMC?
Our new 12,000-square-foot Judith Mara Carson Center for Visual Arts provides you with a unique teaching and learning environment with light-filled studios, digital labs, and a communal hub to host events, connect with friends, or just hang out.
Take in everything New York City offers as the center of the international art world. Meet leading curators, artists, photographers, and designers. Learn from faculty members who are professional artists. Attend classes and intern in prominent cultural institutions like Sotheby’s, the Met, MoMA PS1, El Museo del Barrio, and art galleries across the city.
You can study abroad, apply for internships, and exhibit in the Hewitt Gallery.
Unlike other art programs, MMC’s BFA and BA majors in Art encourage you to pursue your interests in other areas of the College’s curriculum, providing you with additional skills and knowledge, expanding opportunities for personal growth.
