Career PATHS

Students network in various ways in New York’s dynamic media marketplace. Classes visit media headquarters like Rolling Stone, Wall Street Journal, ProPublica, Bloomberg and Vice and meet leaders changing the marketplace. Guest speakers also come to campus as part of our “Journalism Speaker Series.” We’ve recently hosted journalists from CNN, HuffPost, The 19th News, and Buzzfeed as well as many freelance writers and authors. Faculty mentor students to publish work written both inside and outside the classroom and help students find internships in New York City. Our students have written and interned at such places as The New York Times, FOX News, NY1, Vice, CNN, BuzzFeed and The Daily Beast among many others. Students also have the opportunity to write for campus publications like The Monitor and HerCampus and take part in the MMC chapter of ONA (Online News Association). Our students also begin publishing on media outlets during their College career and continue to maintain relationships with the faculty and College as new alumni to share their work and mentor new students.
