July 6 & 7 2019
As a liberal arts college, Marymount Manhattan College prides itself on the interdisciplinary approach to educating a well-rounded dancer. This two-day intensive includes technique classes in ballet, modern, and jazz, as well as the possibility of taking either Improvisation or Composition in a conservatory training environment. Committed to the intellectual development of the dancer, the intensive also offers courses in Teaching Techniques and Dance History or Anatomy to expose students to the complexities of the body and the importance of contextualizing today’s dance world to its historical past.
This summer, all of our courses will be taught by Marymount Manhattan College Dance Department faculty members and Alumni. Both days will have a check-in time of 9:30am followed by a full day of courses from 10am until 6pm. From 6-7pm on Saturday, July 6, we will hold a dinner at which the students will have the opportunity to meet and mingle with some of our fabulous Alum to get their insider scoop on the department and life after graduation. A second dinner will be provided on Sunday, July 7, from 6-7pm with a small performance by some of our current dance majors. Each student attending the intensive is allotted one complimentary guest to both dinners. If any additional guests would like to join for the dinner, they may do so by paying an additional $12.00 per person at the door. We will continue to update registered students with information regrading affordable hotels in the area, great local restaurants, as well as our final class by class schedule.
