In Loving Memory: Michael A. McArthur ’08
The MMC Dance Department is devastated at the loss of beloved alumnus, Michael A. McArthur ’08, and we honor Michael and the presence he had—not only while here at Marymount Manhattan as an undergraduate BFA Dance Major, but throughout his career as a dancer—with a memorial scholarship in his name.
Michael was a bright light loved by all who knew him, and he touched countless lives. From his unbridled talents and his never-ending source of energy, to his generosity and infectious sense of humor, the world embraced him wherever he went. He was a beacon of light, slightly mischievous, but always respectful, intelligent, and instinctual in his embodied knowledge, dynamic as a dancer on and off the stage. On the stage, he always caught the eye, giving 110 percent and exhibiting charisma and artistry that was honest and genuine.
Heartbroken at the loss of a friend, a colleague, a student, the Dance Department celebrates Michael with this scholarship, so that a young talented dancer(s) may have the same opportunity to attain an undergraduate degree in Dance, regardless of financial hardship. The scholarship is merit-based and financial need must be demonstrated.
