Glorianne Jackson

Marymount Manhattan College is proud to celebrate the work of Professor Glorianne Jackson, MA, who during her 15-year tenure at MMC, was a dance faculty pioneer in the establishment of the Department of Dance and its BA and BFA programs. Some of the courses she taught as a full-time faculty member included Ballet, Modern Dance, and History of Dance.

Glorianne Jackson has devoted her life to dance instruction and dance therapy as a faculty member and dance therapist. She has taught at the Arthur Mitchell’s Dance Theater of Harlem, in regular and special education programs of the Chicago and New York City public schools, at The Sonia Shankman Orthogenic School at the University of Chicago, and in the Creative Arts Department of the Bronx Psychiatric Center. To this day, she still commits her energies and talents to the dance community at large, especially in the service of fostering and expanding diversity within the dance therapy world.

The Dance Department has created the Glorianne Jackson Scholarship Fund to honor Glorianne for her lifelong dedication to dance. Funds from this scholarship will benefit students from underserved communities that demonstrate financial need and who are pursuing their BFA or BA in Dance at Marymount Manhattan College.
