Every year, the Mathematics department holds a College-wide π-Day contest. Students, faculty, and staff are invited to submit an original sentence, paragraph, poem, or short story that uses the digits of π in order (π ≈ 3.1415926..).

Dr. Lia Leon Margolin, Associate Professor of Mathematics, presented a talk, “Constructing Wave Functions for Few-Body Systems in a Hyperspherical Basis Using Parentage Scheme of Symmetrization,” at the 15th International Conference on Meson-Nucleon Physics and the Structure of the Nucleon (MENU-2019), held at Cohon University Center, Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Marymount Manhattan College (MMC) is saddened to learn of the passing of Sister Brigid Driscoll, a member for 62 years of the Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary (RSHM), MMC’s founding order. She was also an alumna of MMC (Class of 1954), a former MMC trustee, and a Math instructor at MMC’s Bedford Hills College Program, at the Bedford Hills Correctional Facility for Women, NY. In addition to many other roles, Sister Brigid served for two decades as the President of Marymount College, Tarrytown, MMC’s parent college. She died at Marymount Convent, Tarrytown, on Monday, October 29, 2018 at the age of 84.
