With New York City as your backdrop, students across our programs prepare for careers in public health, environmental science, medicine, evolutionary biology, and everything in between.
The Natural Sciences department offers many levels of support to its Pre-Med students, from pre-professional committees that guide students in their preparation for professional programs to seminars that bring health professionals to speak to students in our program.
Students following the pre-med track are advised about coursework and personally guided toward internships and volunteer activities. Students are also provided a timeframe for taking the required entrance examinations (e.g., MCAT, DAT, GRE). Our individual advisement allows all students from any major the opportunity to create their own program and take the courses necessary for admission to the graduate program of their choice.
The Department of Natural Sciences has an academic linkage with the Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine in Central Harlem. Students who are interested in pursuing a Doctor of Osteopathy at Touro College and meet all the requirements for the program will be given priority review of their applications and a guaranteed interview.
In coordination with the Princeton Review, Marymount Manhattan College is pleased to offer our MCAT Pathway Test Preparation Program to MMC students and alumni.
Health Sciences and Other Professional Degree Tracks
The Department of Natural Sciences also offers a degree path with preparation for alternative career paths as options to the traditional Pre-Med track. Our BA in Biology provides a solid foundation in the life and physical sciences with less emphasis on the analytical aspects of the BS degree. Our BA is appropriate for students intending to pursue studies in Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, or Physician Assistant Programs.
Our Post-Bac program is also excellent for students who have already received a bachelor’s degree but wish to fulfill pre-requisites for entrance to medical school or other graduate programs.
