This year, Marymount Manhattan College launched an institute for pre-college and advanced study, which offers cutting-edge educational programs to non-traditional, non-degree-seeking learners. Three cultural immersion intensives are part of the first roll-out of the programs this fall.
In Tasting NYC Food Culture, participants will have the opportunity to explore NYC as one of the food capitals of the world and learn how the history of the city can be told through food. Touring NYC Museum and Gallery Culture will offer the opportunity to visit both world-renowned and niche museums and galleries on the Upper East Side, delving into the historical and cultural contexts of artists and their work. Experiencing NYC Diplomatic Culture will examine the unique role that NYC plays in international diplomacy, focusing on the United Nations’ past, present, and future through interactions with professionals in the field.
These intensives each meet on four Saturdays throughout the fall and will feature stimulating readings and in-class discussions supplemented by unique excursions that take full advantage of the resources of the Upper East Side and surrounding neighborhoods.
Professors with highly specialized academic and professional backgrounds will lead these immersive experiences, inviting participants to take an active role in their learning.
