The English and World Literatures Department is thrilled to welcome author Jenny Xie for a reading from her new book of poetry, Eye Level, as part of our biannual Lit City series.

Now in its third year, the Lit City reading series brings writers, poets, and artists from New York City to share their work with the Marymount Manhattan College campus. As usual, there will be a wine and cheese reception following the reading. 

About the Author 

Jenny Xie was born in Hefei, China, and raised in New Jersey. She holds degrees from Princeton University and New York University’s creative writing program, and has received fellowships and support from Kundiman, the Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown, the Elizabeth George Foundation, and Poets & Writers.

Her debut poetry collection, Eye Level, was selected by Juan Felipe Herrera as the winner of the 2017 Walt Whitman Award, given by the Academy of American Poets, and was published by Graywolf Press in 2018. The collection has been long-listed for the National Book Award.
