DATE & TIME: 7:30pm EDT October 30
Branden Jacobs-Jenkins’ play Everybody asks, “What are we left with at the end of our lives and how do we measure its worth?” In the original medieval play, “Everyman” is called upon by God to give an accounting for his life at the threshold of his mortality. Encountering all the elements that defined his days, he seeks to find the meaning and worth of his life, and possibly a companion to join him in the afterlife. In Jacobs-Jenkins’ contemporary setting, “Everyman” is played by “Everybody,” as various members of a core company of actors are tasked with the role on a rotating basis from performance to performance through the randomness of chance. As such, no two performances will ever be alike! Branden Jacobs-Jenkins’ plays include Everybody (Signature Theater), Neighbors (Public Theater), An Octoroon (Soho Rep, Obie Award for Best New Play), Appropriate (Signature Theater, Obie Award for Best New Play, Outer Critics Circle nominee), among many others.
