Art of Speech

DATE & TIME: 6:00pm EDT October 28, 2016 - 5:00pm October 30, 2016
LOCATION: The Commons
The Museum of Impact presents Art of Speech, a pop up exhibition and panel discussion at the Marymount Manhattan College (MMC) that brings together artists who utilize their artistic practice as forms of speech during this year’s presidential election. Together, these artists talk about civic power, artivism, voting, and the impact of the upcoming election on people of color in the United States.

This pop up exhibition will support a panel discussion and group discussion at MMC that will encourage attendees to better understand and utilize civic power for political change. Through visual art, and provoking participatory conversation, Art of Speech will raise awareness around our current political turmoil in order to influence participants to understand and recognize their own civic power, and inspire our society to use the combination of art, speech, and action within our own communities in order to create positive change, for all.

This event is sponsored by Student Development and Activities, The Art Department, Humanities and Social Sciences Department, Academic Affairs, Campus Activities Board, and Student Government Association.
