MMC to Host Regional Workshop on Undergraduate Science Education

On Saturday, March 5, 2016, Dr. Ann Aguanno will host a regional workshop on undergraduate science education at Marymount Manhattan College.

This Saturday, the Department of Natural Sciences at Marymount Manhattan will host faculty from across the region for a day-long workshop on pedagogical issues in biochemistry and molecular biology. This complimentary workshop, Developing and Sharing Best Practices: From Concept to Classroom, will be held on Mar. 5, 2016, at Marymount Manhattan College. It is part of a five-year initiative funded by the National Science Foundation to build networks to create and disseminate validated assessment tools for biochemistry. The workshop comes to MMC thanks to the efforts of Associate Professor of Biology Ann Aguanno. Dr. Aguanno is running the workshop in her role as National Chair of ASBMB Student Chapters, the undergraduate arm of the American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology.

This workshop is a great opportunity for our community to forge networks among innovative educators who are interested in effective teaching and learning. The outcomes of meetings like this one will provide the catalyst for improving student preparation for careers grounded in a working knowledge of biochemistry and molecular biology.
